Opportunity Overview
Ignite Work Study funds a range of on-campus part-time jobs that help students earn income while building career-related skills.
Positions can be connected with a student’s academic field or can provide exposure to another area of interest. The program is designed as experiential learning, so students are expected to reflect on goals and learning as part of the employment experience.

How the Program Works
Students search and apply to individual Ignite jobs on mySuccess. Supervisors and departments can request resumes and interviews before making offers.
After accepting a position, students complete hiring paperwork and begin the paid work experience under the mentorship and supervision of a University staff or faculty member.
Ignite participants also attend a launch session and complete check-ins and reflections related to their goals and learning.
Benefits of Ignite Work Study
The program can help students gain practical career skills, explore a work area, build a resume, participate in campus activities and practice job-search and interview skills.
Because the work takes place on campus, it can also give students a professional network inside the university while they continue their studies.
Application Deadline
The current student application deadline is October 26, 2026. The University advises students to apply early because individual departments make the hiring decisions and jobs are not guaranteed.

Tips for Applicants
Apply to several suitable roles early
Individual supervisors hire their own students, so do not wait until the program deadline if relevant jobs are already posted.
Tailor each application
A research position and an administrative position need different evidence. Adjust the resume to the actual campus job.
Check course-load eligibility
Confirm your academic standing, enrolment and work authorization before applying so there are no eligibility problems later.
