The hourly rate is CAD 47.07 to CAD 51.58, with a Monday-to-Friday schedule of 35 hours per week. The work location is 40 Toryork Drive, and the official posting period runs from August 10 to August 24, 2026.

Opportunity Overview
Research Analyst 1 supports the operational side of Transportation Services through research, data analysis, reporting and administrative analysis. The work connects asset management, procurement, contracts, work orders, financial monitoring and service delivery.
The role is broad enough to suit candidates from public administration, finance, procurement, data analytics, project management or technical infrastructure backgrounds when they can demonstrate strong analytical experience.
Available Position
- Position: Research Analyst 1
- Job ID: 64211
- Division: Transportation Services, Operations & Maintenance
- Location: 40 Toryork Drive, Toronto
- Openings: 2
- Employment: 1 Permanent + 1 Temporary, approximately 18 months
- Pay: CAD 47.07-51.58 per hour

Key Responsibilities
The analyst provides research, analysis, reporting and administrative support related to divisional operations, asset management, procurement, contract administration, work-order management, payment processing and financial monitoring.
The position develops and maintains databases, logs, dashboards, maps, charts and reports used to track transportation assets, service delivery, procurement activity, contract usage, work orders, payments and operational trends.
Another major responsibility is reviewing contracts, procurement documents, purchase orders, invoices, financial information, service requests and asset records to identify discrepancies, risks, trends and opportunities for improvement.
Systems and Procurement Work
The City lists systems such as SAP/S4 HANA, SAP Ariba, Maximo, TMMS, Excel and GIS or mapping tools. Applicants do not necessarily need experience with every named platform, but they should show comparable enterprise-system and analytical experience where relevant.
The role supports procurement documents and contract processes, including RFQs, RFTs, RFPs, purchase-order setup, amendments, renewals, extensions, close-outs and funding or award materials. It also monitors expenditures, purchase-order balances, budgets, contingency use and payment activity.
Education and Experience
Relevant post-secondary fields include Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Project Management, Data Analytics and Civil Engineering Technology. The City also accepts an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Applicants need considerable experience conducting data analysis, financial analysis, research, reporting or administrative analysis in environments such as public sector operations, procurement, transportation, asset management, construction or project-based work.
Communication and Analytical Skills
The analyst prepares reports, briefing notes, summaries, presentations, spreadsheets, maps, process documents and training materials. Clear writing and the ability to explain findings to operational and corporate stakeholders are therefore important.
The job also requires organization, attention to detail, judgment and the ability to manage competing deadlines while supporting multiple contracts, projects or assignments.
Application Deadline
Applications are accepted through August 24, 2026. The employer page shows an active Apply now link, and candidates should submit before the posted City deadline.

Tips for Applicants
Match qualifications directly
Use the same major capability areas as the posting and give concrete evidence for analysis, contracts, procurement, systems and reporting.
Show analytical outputs
Mention dashboards, financial analyses, reconciliations, reports or process improvements you created and the decisions they supported.
Do not hide systems experience
If you have used SAP, Ariba, Maximo, GIS or comparable systems, state what you did inside the platform rather than listing the software name alone.
Final Notes
The Research Analyst 1 competition is active on the City of Toronto’s own careers site, offers two positions and closes August 24, 2026. The duplicate keyword marked ‘__trashed’ was intentionally not turned into a second post.
